David Mead (Team MI Racing Townsend Vehicle Hire) claimed victory at the Rugby Racing Cycling Club 10-mile time trial, breaking the 20-minute barrier with a time of 19:34. In the women’s event, Denise Burrows (AeroCoach Ltd) and Susan Semple (Legato Racing Team) shared the win, both clocking 24:32.

Women's Category Highlights and Results

Denise Burrows and Susan Semple tied for first in a thrilling finish, with identical times of 24:32. Burrows noted the challenging course and weather, compounded by a Garmin malfunction after hitting a pothole at mile five, forcing her to ride by feel for the second half. She commented: “Susan Semple and I have been trading first and second place for much of the past few seasons, so it was perhaps no surprise that we took the joint win today with absolutely nothing between us! Congratulations to Susan and thank you to the Rugby Racing Cycling Club organisers, marshals, and volunteers.”

Open Category Highlights and Results

David Mead dominated the open category, securing his fourth win of the season with a time of 19:34, ahead of the National 25-mile Championship. He attributed his success to light winds and a clean run through the course’s numerous roundabouts, saying: “I managed to push my best power for the season, which I was happy about as I have the National 25 next week. Thank you to the organisers for a well-run event with plenty of marshals.” Dan Whitehouse-Smith (Army Cycling) took second in 21:08, followed closely by Ryan Witchell (George Fox Cycling Solutions) in 21:16.
