Torrie & Aylen excel at Chelmer CC 25

Timothy Torrie (Defined Cycling Team) secured his third win of 2025 at the Chelmer Cycling Club 25-mile time trial on 27 July 2025, clocking 50:01 on a shortened E9/25 course in Essex. Karen Aylen (Shaftesbury CC) topped the women’s category with a time of 1:04:58.

Open Category Highlights and Results

Torrie claimed a hard-fought victory, edging out James Jenkins (Hart Performance Coaching) by over a minute. He said: “Sadly, the course was shortened due to road works, but all the riders were grateful to race. It’s a tough 25 that you can’t hold back on as the out leg drags up to the turn. I was surprised to be up on James at the turn, and although he gained time on the run home, I’d done enough to keep him at bay. Ramsey Kechacha (Shaftesbury CC) in third produced a great time; he’s getting faster and will run us close next year!” James Lonergan (Shaftesbury CC) led the road bike category with 57:08, placing seventh overall.

Course and Event Details

The E9/25 course, slightly shortened due to road works, is a 25-mile out-and-back single carriageway starting just west of Chelmsford. Riders head northwest on the A1060 through Leaden Roding and Great Canfield to Great Dunmow, where they turn and return to the finish. The event, supported by Chelmer CC’s volunteers and marshals, maintained a great atmosphere despite the course adjustment.
