Lancashire | 25 miles | L2534 | Preesall - Lancaster - Preesall
Matt Morris (Giant Store Kendal Sidas Uk) claimed victory by over two minutes in windy conditions at the Lancashire Road Club 25-mile time trial on 20 July 2025. Deborah Moss (Springfield Financial Racing Team) was the fastest woman in this challenging Lancashire event on course L2534, highlighting top performances in UK time trialling.
Morris secured his fifth open win of the season with 54:06, improving on his previous 54:32 at Preston Wheelers 25 despite headwinds. Kevin Locke (Barrow Central Wheelers Cycling Club) took second in 56:27.
Morris said: “The race went well and it was good to take the win on this proper testers course. The course has a bit of everything with flat drag strips into a rolling section with a few tight corners, although windy the weather was nice and warm with headwind on the outward leg which made for a fast finish. A big thank you to Lancashire Road Club for the hosting the event!”
Jack Smith (Lancashire RC) 1:01:32
Mark Parsons (Lancashire RC) 1:01:36
James Bentley (Lancashire RC) 1:09:53
Paul Burrows (Thanet RC) 57:36
Veteran Moss continued her strong form with her fifth open win of 2025, clocking 1:02:20—faster than her 1:03:05 at Preston Wheelers.
Moss reflected: “For a change, it was a warm race, perfect temperature. It was its usual windy self across Pilling Sands. I had checked the weather for the wind direction which had said southerly winds meaning a tailwind up to Lancaster. On the day, it was the opposite. So, it was a battle up to Lancaster to the turn with a disappointing average speed, but happy to pull a bit back on the return leg. I’m really pleased to take the win on a local course. Thanks to Ben and Tony for the organising and all the marshals and helpers on the day.”
In the over-40 veterans, Steven Bedford (North Lancashire Road Club) led with 58:52, ahead of Matt Stell (Springfield Financial Racing Team) in 59:04.
Over-50 veterans saw Mark Parsons (Lancashire RC) quickest in 1:01:36.
The 60-70 veterans was tight: James Bentley (Lancashire RC) topped with 1:09:53, followed by David Hilditch (Springfield Financial Racing Team) in 1:10:44 and John Hampson (Hoppers Rollers) in 1:12:42.
