Another bright, calm and sunny day in Cheshire set the scene for the second round of the 3 event M&DTTA 10 mile series. Conditions were ideal, and once again Alastair Ribbands (Congleton CC – MyWindsock) took the win for the second week running, improving his time to an impressive 20:42.
The women’s competition was won by Claire Harrison (Congleton CC – MyWindsock) in 25:10, continuing a strong showing for the club.
This event also included the Youth & Junior Championships and formed part of the VTTA Manchester & NW Group Championship Series.
Unfortunately, there were no Youth entries this week.
The Junior winner, repeating his success from last week, was Nicholas Smith (Manchester Bicycle Club) with a time of 22:13.
In the VTTA Manchester & NW Group Championship Series (VTTA members only), the top three were:
Christopher Maffei (360cycling) – 20:56 (AAT)
Richard Shaw (Seamons CC) – 20:59 (AAT)
Stephen Dooley (Seamons CC) – 21:26 (AAT)
Team honours went to Congleton CC – MyWindsock, with strong rides from:
Alastair Ribbands – 20:42
Alex Moss – 21:28
Joe Rendall – 22:12
Combined time: 1:04:22
Once again, the event had to be moved to the J4/20 emergency course due to ongoing roadworks on J2/3. However, the recently repaired surface on the A50 made for a much safer and smoother ride compared with recent years when potholes were a major issue.
A big thank you to all riders, volunteers and officials who made the event run smoothly. On to the next one!
