Christopher McNamara (Sigma Sports Race Team) and Chantel Coetzer (Hainault RC) delivered commanding performances at the Southern Counties Cycling Union 100-mile time trial on 27 July 2025, taking clear victories in their respective categories.
Veteran rider Christopher McNamara was the only competitor to break the three-and-a-half-hour mark, securing the open category win with a time of 3:28:39, just four seconds off his personal best over the distance. He said: “Conditions were really good on the day - not too hot and a nice helpful tailwind down the A24. I had good legs, fuelled and paced it well. I aimed to ride the drags hard and roll the gear over in between, which worked well.” Cris Coxon (Brighton Mitre CC) claimed second, while senior rider Sven Sabas (Rapha Cycling Club) rounded out the podium.

Chantel Coetzer (Hainault RC) dominated the women’s event, finishing nearly nine minutes ahead with a time of 4:36:52, marking her second open women’s victory of the season following her win at the Shaftesbury Open 50. Harriet Delbridge (Royal Navy Cycling) took second on a road bike, with Sarah Mackenzie (Serpentine Running and Triathlon Club) securing third.

The G100/61A course is a 100-mile route starting outside West Grinstead, featuring an out-and-back section along the A272 towards Haywards Heath, followed by a loop down the A24 to Washington, across the A283 to Steyning, and back through Ashurst to the finish. The course includes 293.88 metres of elevation gain and 299.24 metres of loss, with riders benefiting from favorable conditions, including a helpful tailwind on the A24.
