Christopher Gibbard (FTP Race Team) claimed his fifth Welsh 100-mile time trial title on 20 July 2025, posting 3:29:57 in variable conditions. Claire Hann (Bristol South CC) topped the women’s event with 4:02:03 in the Welsh Cycling Association Championship on the R100/9 course.

Open Category Highlights and Results

Gibbard dominated the open category, finishing over five minutes ahead of David James Williams (Velotik Racing Team), with Anthony Jones (VMCC powered by Y Beic) securing third. Gibbard said: “I’m really happy to win my fifth Welsh 100 Championship. There were some really classy riders on the start sheet, so I knew I was going to have to be at my best. The conditions were a bit variable, but I was really pleased with my time, and overall, it was probably one of my best performances at the distance.” Ben Core (Bristol South CC) led the road bike category with 4:23:42, while espoir Cameron Bonner (Dursley Road Club) clocked 4:15:19.

Women's Category Highlights and Results

Claire Hann battled torrential rain and standing water to secure the women’s title with 4:02:03, edging out Roxy Woodfield (Ludlow Brewery Race Team) and Kim Barfoot-Brace (Team Bottrill). Hann reflected: “I had a good morning out and felt like I paced my ride evenly. We had challenging conditions, with torrential downpours creating lots of standing water. On the plus side, at least there was no risk of overheating today! A big thank you to the race organisers and people helping at the feed station during the pouring rain.”

Course and Event Details

The R100/9 course in Monmouthshire is a 100-mile route starting on Monmouth Road in Raglan, featuring three circuits along the A40 between Abergavenny and Monmouth, and finishing north of Llanellen. Organised by the Welsh Cycling Association under CTT rules, the event offered equal prizes for men and women, including medals and caps, despite challenging weather conditions.
